The basics of web marketing for small business owners

This is an introductory course to web marketing tailored to business owners who want to expand their knowledge of web marketing from the ground up. Some of the questions this seminar answers are:

  • What is a website, really?
  • What is a search engine?
  • How do I get people to find me online?
  • What can I do online, by myself?
  • What is social media?

Increasing Web Visibility

This course will introduce you to search engine optimization (SEO), and how to increase your visibility online. This course is oriented towards individuals with a basic knowledge of web marketing, who want to increase their ability and know-how when it comes to search engine optimization. If you are planning on attending Web Marketing 101, you’ll be well prepared for this course.

Writing for the Web:

How to Produce Engaging Content

Writing for an online audience is a skill in and of itself. This course will walk you through voice, cadence, style, and other writing basics in addition to web-specific best practices. You will learn how to write to be read, and to be engaged with.

SEO 201:

Keyword Research

The beginning of any good SEO campaign is knowing what people are looking for. This 90 minute course covers keyword research from start to finish. From initial legwork through determining target priority, attendees of this course will walk away with the knowledge they need to formulate the beginnings of a winning SEO campaign.

This course is a great follow-up to SEO 101: Increasing Web Visibility. If you attend that course, you’ll be ready for this one.

What, Why, and How

Blogging can be a great way for a business to engage with it’s customers and remain top-of-mind. This seminar will cover choosing a platform, developing a writing campaign, delivering the goods, and engaging your audience. If you’re attending Writing for the Web, this makes a great partner course. Stand-alone, this course can also help you drive your business forward.

SEO 202:

On-Page Optimization

Building on a foundation of solid keyword research, on-page optimization is the next step in developing a well-optimized website. This seminar will teach solid on-page fundamentals to help project a site forward, and up the ranks of a search engine. It will also cover some don’t-do’s, and why SEO on the up-and-up is better for long-term gain.

This course covers some technical material. If you are attending SEO 101 or 201, however, you will be prepared for this course.
